To assist priests and deacons in the distribution of Communion at Mass and to bring Communion to the sick and homebound.
Ministers of Communion prepare the credence table and the gifts of bread and wine before Mass, help with the distribution of Communion, and purify and store the various vessels at the conclusion of Mass. In addition, they bring Communion to those who, due to illness or infirmity, are unable to attend Mass.
Program Needs: Those who desire to become Special Ministers of Holy Communion are given special training to prepare them for this ministry.
