Eucharist for the First Time

“The Holy Eucharist completes Christian Initiation… The Eucharist is ‘the source and summit of the Christian life’ (Lumen Gentium, Vatican Council II). The other sacraments, and indeed all ecclesiastical ministries and works of the apostolate, are bound up with the Eucharist and are oriented toward it.” – Catechism of the Catholic Church, 1324

Baptized Catholic children generally receive the Eucharist for the first time in Grade 2. The immediate preparation involves the children and their parents in formation sessions. Additional information can be obtained by contacting the Faith Formation Office.
